Houseboating Vacations

It’s the type of vacation that many people don’t even know about and if you have heard about it, you might have been hesitant to give it a try. At first glance, taking a boat this size out on the water can be intimidating. Let us walk you through a few things about houseboat vacations to ease your mind and explain exactly what it is.

Houseboating is a unique way to get close to nature while still having all the comforts of home. Looking from the front deck of your houseboat, you’ll see thousands of acres of beautiful, pristine Kentucky Lake, while on the inside you have the best luxuries that even the finest hotels cannot provide.

There is no other vacation setting that allows a group of people to stay together under one roof with the ultimate relaxed atmosphere. No waiting in lines. No stressful crowds. Just you, your family and a lake waiting for your adventure on our houseboat vacations!

So How Does This Work?

You do not need a special license to drive a houseboat. In fact, after a 30-minute lesson from one of our captains you’ll be off and running on your own looking for fun and sun.

You will receive instructions on how to drive the boat, anchor, and information on running your appliances. If you ever need a refresher, lesson guides are on every boat that can walk you through every step. You can always call us on phone or radio as well.

After leaving Kentucky Dam, there are many secluded coves to choose from. You’ll want to find one before the day is over. There is nothing like finding your own little hideaway cove, anchoring down and enjoying the evening under the stars. The possibilities are endless on our houseboat vacations!

What Can We Do on the Lake?

Kentucky Lake is a commercial waterway, so there’s no shortage of things to see and do. Fish, golf, shop, dine, relax, and enjoy your own lake front property.

Across the street is a championship style par 72 Golf course, designed by notable course architect Perry Maxwell.

Maxwell is also responsible for such designs as Southern Hills C.C. in Tulsa, OK (site of the 2007 PGA Championship) and Colonial C.C. in Fort Worth, TX (home to golf legend Ben Hogan). Four sets of tees accommodate players of all capabilities.

With awards in Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, and Kentucky Paducah’s BBQ on the River (Grand Champion) is by far the best around. With 21 years of cooking on the circuit J-Mack BBQ has settled in Gilbertsville, Ky.

Patti’s 1880’s Award-winning Restaurant is famous for their 2” thick pork chops, mile-high meringue pies and flower pot bread. Patti’s 1880s Settlement includes six unique gift shops in a recreated historical log cabin village, beautiful gardens, gazebos, a wedding chapel, private catering facilities, winding streams, miniature golf, remote control boats and a 26 ft tall rock wall. Patti’s name today is synonymous with all the positive things life has to offer – good food, shared times, and connecting with friends and family.
